Melissa Kennis, LPC

As a licensed professional counselor, I provide you with quality mental health care and addictions treatment. It is my goal to help you enhance your quality of life. All individuals are valuable and unique and should be treated with dignity and respect. I strive to provide a safe space for you to feel comfortable expressing your thoughts and feelings openly. We will get to know one another and build a therapeutic professional relationship focused on honesty and trust. I use a variety of different therapeutic approaches, designed to meet the needs of everyone who I treat. Some of these approaches include: Person Centered Therapy focusing on authentic support, empathy, and encouragement, building positive support and positive relationships, Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) which provides education on the connection between thoughts, feelings and behaviors, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) which focuses on learning how to hold one’s thoughts, emotions and behaviors in balance and better managing and coping with life’s ups and downs. DBT offers individual skills in four principal areas, including: Mindfulness Skills, Distress Tolerance Skills, Emotional Regulation Skill, & Interpersonal Effectiveness Skills. I also use solution-focused therapy, strengths-based therapy, motivational interviewing and other treatments that are unique to individual needs. Areas of treatment that I primarily focus on include depression, anxiety, adjusting to change, self-compassion, improving self-esteem, learning self-regulation, mood disorders and more. My wish for your therapy session is that you will leave the session feeling better than when you arrived.

I provide remote, telehealth services and accept most commercial insurances. I look forward to working with you!
